A National Emergency

By Darren Caparaso, M.D., Co-Director of Embrace Recovery Buffalo

STUNNING FACT - For the first time in our nation’s history, Fentanyl overdoses have surged to become the #1 cause of death for ages 18-45!

Drug overdose deaths have reached a staggering all-time record high during a 12-month period from May 2020 to April 2021, with over 100,000 people dying of drug overdoses in the United States.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Thankfully, there are life-saving, evidence-based treatments that can be implemented, to successfully manage conditions such as opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder.

The last two years have taught us many life lessons and has made us all painfully aware of the ongoing mental health crisis exacerbated by the pandemic. The pandemic continued to fuel our addiction and drug overdose epidemic.

We at ERB strongly believe it is vitally important to have clinical and community care (medicine and ministry) working TOGETHER.

ERB continues to EDUCATE, EQUIP, AND ENGAGE healthcare providers, patients, families, and our communities, to shed light on this stigma and ignorance which shrouds addiction.

Our team is committed to fulfilling our mission to help people get the help they deserve. Addiction care is just as important as any other type of medical care.

A New Chapter for CMDA of WNY

For over 60 years, CMDA of WNY has been educating and ministering among students, serving in mission fields, as well as in our own local community. Through excellent leadership and the sovereign will of the Lord, we have grown and continue to do so.

Now, we find ourselves turning the page into a new chapter of CMDA of WNY. What does that look like?

We are currently looking for a space where “Christian Health and Ministry Meet”. A center near the growing and vibrant medical corridor, where we can expand the work in new and innovative ways. A place where vital partnerships are formed with the local church community and services.

This is an exciting season for us, and I can only imagine what God has in store. Please be in prayer and seek the LORD about your involvement.

Email me at info@cmdaofwny.org. We want to hear your thoughts and ideas.

For His Glory,
The Leadership of CMDA of WNY
