Geoffrey Gerow is a second-generation chiropractor graduating from the same institution (now known as the National University of Health Sciences) as his father. Subsequently he was hired into the chiropractic department of this same institution. Early on many areas interested him and he went to explore chiropractic techniques on the weekends for two years while teaching. Additionally, he started post-graduate work in Diagnostic Imaging and Chiropractic Orthopedics. Eventually it was difficult to do both and he settled on the latter but always maintained an interest in the former.
He was head of the department of Chiropractic Adjustive Technique which encompassed orthopedics at the Patient Research Center on Campus. Dr. Gerow then returned to his hometown of Buffalo, NY where his father was practicing and helped him. He practiced with Dr. Roger Alt, a Lincoln College Graduate for 2 years and then helped him for two years until he passed. Dr. Gerow then started East Buffalo Chiropractic in 1991. He was the chief chiropractic consultant for the State Insurance Fund of NY in Buffalo for 10 years. An opportunity arose to once again participate in academia and Dr. Gerow became the curriculum consultant for D’Youville College chiropractic program in 2000.
In 2004 Dr. Gerow came on as the first Director of the program, wrote all the courses for such program and led the program to CCE Accreditation. Additionally, Dr. Gerow taught many of the courses in the program including the diagnostic imaging courses. While at DYC Dr. Gerow also worked Cornerstone Manor a Buffalo Women’s City Mission performing Health Care for several years along with Dr. Joanna Garvey. After leaving D’Youville College Dr. Gerow wrote a course for the University of Buffalo Medical School and this course was the first to pass through the curriculum committee once the committee was reformed. Dr. Gerow continues to teach 3rd and 4th year medical students. Each student is given the opportunity to publish.
Dr. Gerow is an editor on Medpix, an online imaging site. The present course would not be possible without the unwavering support of Dr. Joseph Serghany MD and Dr. Randy Loftus MD of WNY MRI, Dr. James Smirniotopoulos, MD (Neuroradiologist and chief editor of Medpix), Dr. Gary Smith, Board Certified Electromyographer, David Marcarian MA of Myovision, Dr. Jennifer Sperrazza, Dr. Samantha Wilfong, Dr. John Strom, Jeanita Brooks, Dorean Vance, Dr. Joanna Garvey and Dr. David Holmes. So far Dr. Gerow has aided roughly 140 students publishing on this site. Dr. Gerow is Board Certified by the International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Dr. Gerow maintains a private practice, East Buffalo Chiropractic, concentrating on work and auto related injuries.
